Flexibility is the range of movement that a person can do with their limb or body. It is the ability that is limited by the structure of an individual joint, the muscle characteristics and the function of the central nervous system. Most of these factors except for the joint structure can be influenced by exercise. The proper and systematic flexibility exercise is often neglected or underestimated at sports; however, it represents a vital part of the athlete’s fitness.

The fact is that poor flexibility can have a negative effect on speed, coordination and rationality of motion and it can also prolong the regeneration period. The demanding task of developing flexibility and incorporating it in the exercise has to be done by an expert in the field of sports fitness.
